9 people were hurt in the Denver shooting near NBA Finals celebrations, according to police

According to the Denver Police Department, two suspects were detained.

In a "chaotic" shooting in Denver close to the venue where the Nuggets won their first NBA championship on Monday night, nine people were hurt, according to police.

According to police, a suspect in the event was also shot, detained, and is presently being treated in a hospital.

According to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, the shooting, which happened around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday near the 2000 block of Market Street, was the result of an altercation during a rumoured drug sale. Cash and numerous bags of fentanyl tablets were found at the site, according to the police.

Thomas told reporters that "tens of thousands" of people were peacefully enjoying the victory in the downtown area, and added, "Our strong belief is that this was completely unassociated with the celebration."

The triumph was being peacefully celebrated by "tens of thousands" of people in the downtown area, Thomas told reporters, adding, "Our strong belief is that this was completely unassociated with the celebration."

The situation, according to Thomas, was "very chaotic." Multiple firearms were used to fire at least 20 bullets, according to the police. According to Thomas, it's thought that five to six of the shooting victims were unintentional bystanders.

According to the chief, there were many police officers in the vicinity who rushed to the situation and provided aid. According to police, eight males and a woman sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

According to Denver Police Major Crimes Division Commander Matt Clark, the shot suspect, identified by police as 22-year-old Ricardo Vazquez, was apprehended after a police foot pursuit and is being treated in a hospital for non-life-threatening wounds. He had a gun and fentanyl pills on him, according to Clark.

According to Clark, a second suspect, 33-year-old Raoul Jones, was found inside a car close to the shooting site and has also been arrested on a weapons charge.

"What their involvement was and what, if any, injuries they caused by the rounds that were fired," Clark said, adding that police are still investigating.

Police have asking anyone with information or video from the site to come forward since they believe there are numerous suspects.

The incident occurred approximately a mile from Ball Arena, where the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship on Monday by defeating the Miami Heat.

Armando Saldate, executive director of the Denver Department of Safety, said, "We all share the concern about this -- the concern about gun violence in our community, you know, such a great event marred by some senseless acts of violence that we see far too common."
